Bisphenol A - BPA

On August 14, 2008, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a "Draft Assessment of Bisphenol A for Use in Food Contact Materials." In the draft report, FDA stated that the agency continues to consider typical exposure of humans to bisphenol A as being safe. With regard to BPA thus far, the science the FDA has reviewed does not justify recommending that anyone discontinue using these products. For more information, visit http://www.bisphenol-a.org/.

Do you recycle your big bottles?

Absolutely! DS Waters of America and our Family of Brands are dedicated to the comprehensive management of bottled water packaging to provide the highest quality, cost-effective and environmentally-responsible containers possible.
The larger water bottles, delivered to homes and offices, are one of the food and beverage industry's refillable/reusable containers. Our 3 and 5-Gallon bottles are cleaned, sanitized and normally refilled 40 to 50 times.
Most of our big water bottles are recycled at the end of their life cycle. The recycled plastic is used to make carpet, toys, tool handles, bird feeders and other items. You typically will not find large bottled water containers in landfills, because these bottles are returnable, reusable, refillable and recyclable.

What are recycling options for Single-serve bottles?

Our Single-Serve bottled water products are a great source for convenience - but with this comes the responsibility to recycle.

Watch 'Recycle This!, a video on what you can to do recycle your water bottles.

How long is the shelf-life of a bottle of water?

Our bottles indicate a "best by" date. While bottled water is not a perishable food product, we recommend rotating your emergency supply and storing it under optimum conditions. Bottled water should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. Bottled water should be stored away from paints, solvents, garden chemicals, cleaning compounds and petroleum products, such as gasoline.

What type of bottled water containers should I store for emergency preparedness?

We recommend our PET (8oz, 16.9oz or 24oz), 2.5 gallon and our 1 gallon containers. These smaller containers are typically easier to handle and store.

How often should I rotate the bottles of water that I have stored for emergencies?

We recommend rotating and replacing, if possible, the water that you have stored for emergencies every six months.

How can I be sure I have water for an emergency?

One obvious solution is to start home bottled water delivery service for your water. This ensures that you always have the purest water available for drinking through the year. If you are wondering how much you should have on hand at a time, the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness recommends bottled water (at least three gallons of water per person)1.
